Worrying about the bill is one of the most common reasons people delay dental treatment — and one of the most unfortunate, because small problems that go untreated almost always become bigger, more expensive ones. At Boulder Smile Design, we've built multiple pathways to make care accessible, whether you have insurance, don't have insurance, or fall somewhere in between.
Questions? Call (303) 442-6142 — our team will walk you through your options before you ever sit in the chair.
Insurance Plans We Accept
Boulder Smile Design is in-network with the following dental insurance carriers:
Delta Dental
Cigna Dental
Aetna Dental
Being in-network means we've agreed to contracted rates with these carriers — so your out-of-pocket costs are significantly lower than seeing an out-of-network provider.
We also work with many out-of-network PPO plans. If your carrier isn't listed above, don't assume we can't help. Call us at (303) 442-6142 and we'll verify your benefits on the spot. In many cases, out-of-network patients still receive meaningful reimbursement from their plan.
- Verify your insurance benefits before your appointment — no surprises
- File all claims on your behalf
- Explain exactly what your plan covers and what your estimated out-of-pocket will be
- Help you plan and sequence treatment to maximize your annual benefits
Note: Dental insurance plans vary widely. Coverage percentages, annual maximums, and waiting periods differ by plan. We'll give you a personalized breakdown at or before your first visit.
No Insurance? No Problem.
Our In-House Dental Savings Plan
If you don't have dental insurance — or if your insurance doesn't cover a specific treatment — our in-house membership plan is the most straightforward way to reduce your costs. No insurance company middleman. No claim denials. No waiting periods.
- No waiting periods — benefits start immediately
- No deductibles
- No annual maximums
- Preventive care included (exams, X-rays, cleanings)
- 15% discount on all additional treatments
This plan is particularly valuable for patients who need restorative work like crowns, implants, or whitening, where uninsured costs can add up quickly.
Financing Options
For larger treatments, we offer financing so you can get the care you need today and pay over time.
CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that offers 0% interest promotional financing for qualified applicants. You can apply online in minutes and often receive a decision immediately. We'll help you apply in-office if you prefer.
HFD is another flexible financing option we offer for patients who may not qualify for CareCredit or who prefer an alternative. HFD specializes in healthcare financing with a straightforward application process and a range of payment plan terms to fit different budgets.
For treatments not covered by financing programs or for patients who prefer a direct arrangement, we offer in-house payment plans. Talk to our front desk team — we'll work with you to find a schedule that fits your budget.

How We Handle the Financial Conversation
We know nobody loves talking about money at the dentist. Here's our approach:
Before your appointment:
We verify your insurance and give you a benefits summary so you know what to expect.
At your appointment:
After your exam, if Dr. Friedman recommends treatment, our team will present you with a clear, itemized cost estimate — broken down by procedure, insurance coverage, and your estimated out-of-pocket.
Before treatment begins:
You'll always approve your cost estimate before any non-emergency work starts. No surprises. No pressure.
For larger treatment plans:
We'll help you phase treatment strategically — for example, timing procedures across two calendar years to use two rounds of annual insurance benefits.
